Deep Exploration at Kuala Penyu, Sabah - 1

Hello! 👀👀👀 Candice finally returns to Trains of Memories after years! I actually had some posts as drafts that I never completed. 😝😝😝 It's okay. Let's forget about those old posts.

I reactive as a blogger mainly because I want to share a short getaway with you. 😍 Last week, I traveled south-west down to Tenom-Sipitang-Beaufort-Kuala Penyu from Kota Kinabalu, Today, I would only like to share with you about my exploration at Kuala Penyu.

Kuala Penyu (Malay: Pekan Kuala Penyu) is the capital of the Kuala Penyu district in the Interior Division of Sabah, Malaysia. (Note: I traveled to the whole Kuala Penyu district instead of only the town area.) The district consists of a quaint, small town and many peaceful villages (kampung). Even in the town, there are mainly wooden shops. There is NO shopping mall (obviously), cinema, Watsons or Bestamart in concrete. I guess the only entertainment in the town is snooker (Well, it is also located in a traditional wooden house).

I was standing behind the old wooden shop in the sunshiny morning.

I reached Kuala Penyu in the Sunday afternoon. We traveled by a car to find an affordable accommodation (Alright, our budget was only RM 60 😕). You can actually book a resort via booking.com or agoda.com. From the websites, Tempurung Seaside Lodge was well recommended. However, when we're there, the place was locked. I guess there is no one traveling there nowadays. We left the place immediately. In fact, I was a bit frightened as it is situated at the interior area and I could meet no one. Then, we tried to search our KEY DESTINATION - BATU LUANG, Kuala Penyu. Our prime motivation of the trip was the sunset viewing at Batu Luang. We could hardly discover Batu Luang as it looks very ordinary from far.

The reference of Batu Luang sunset that I got from Mr. Google.

The view of Batu Luang from far. See, what a huge difference!
I was disappointed and sad that day as I couldn't view a nice sunset. It was cloudy. However, I still spent one to two hours there hoping the clouds would move away.

The stone with no sunset. Well, you still can get some candid photos.
There are a few mysterious small caves too!
This kid had no fear about "Bogeyman" that dwells in the caves.
As you can see, we have more photos with the caves rather than with the sea as the weather was not-so-good to catch some nice scenery. Around six in the evening, we left Batu Luang with disappointment. (Note: I thought Pantai Batu Luang is a famous beach with many tourists. Hmmmm. There was no one there except us with a couple taking pre-wedding photos). We went back to the motel in town. If you would like to access to other restaurants easily, you may select the motels in the town instead of the resorts along the beach. At 7.00 p.m., the town shut down itself. There was only a restaurant. We'd no other choice for our dinner. That's all for my planned trip! 😄 WAIT! I still have the unplanned trip to share with you! Stay tuned to the second post! 💖💖💖
